Recruitment of Scientific Officers (Scientists and Engineers) is through two major programmes – OCES and DGFS, conducted by the BARC Training Schools and also through the Dr. K.S. Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA) programme.
- Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post Graduates (OCES)
- DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme (DGFS)

For certain specialized areas listed below, direct recruitment is also done through open advertisements in leading newspapers for the post of Technical Officer (C) or higher whenever vacancies arise.
