Common Aptitude Test for MBA admissions from 2013

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced that Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) will be taken from 2013 by the students interested to join management courses.
The decision was taken in the executive council meeting of the AICTE held recently.
The CMAT will be applicable for admission in post-graduate MBA courses and post-graduate diploma in business administration. As per AICTE, CMAT will be a test for all AICTE-approved institutes and will reduce the stress and financial burden on students. Although CMAT will be held in 2012 too, from 2013 all admissions will be based on CMAT scores. Admission to 4,000 colleges that offer an MBA and another 500 which run diploma programmes will take place on the basis of the Common Management Aptitude Test (CMAT) from 2013.

Exemption:
Only IIMs and deemed universities have been exempted from this national entrance test for MBA courses. Deemed universities will also hold their individual entrance tests.
